Media type detection
SOR, Inc. RF Transmitters accurately monitor the status and contents of pipelines at hydrocarbon fuel storage stations - at a significant savings over nuclear densitometers.
Insert a Teflon sheathed probe into an empty pipeline and calibrate to 4mA. In a pipeline full of brine, calibrate to 20mA. When hydrocarbon is in the pipeline, the output will be between 6 and 10mA (depending upon the dielectric constant).

Hydrocarbon/Water separation (point level)
SOR, Inc. Single-Point RF Switches detect the interface between oil and water so excess water can be drawn off the bottom of the vessel without draining hydrocarbons into the line. The RF switch is inexpensive protection against EPA regulation violation.
