SOR® pursued this listing for two reasons. The first was to accommodate a good customer who manufacturers deluge systems for the petrochemical, refining and oil & gas exploration markets.

The second reason was to provide hermetically sealed switches at higher pressure ranges than the commercial designed products. These two features provide explosion proof devices on deluge systems being installed in those environments. Commercial products are typically designed for inside use only. The higher pressure ranges allow for deluge skids to be built to greater pressures, allowing for more coverage. Like the pipeline through Alaska .

The SOR standard hermetically sealed design is enhanced to meet VOXZ listing by adding a redundant wire that leads to the micro-switch terminals. Besides the pressure switch detecting pressure loss a sense of added security is achieved with a back-up circuit wire.

The basic standard used in these products is UL 753, “Alarm Accessories for Automatic Water-Supply Control Valves for Fire-Protection Services.”
