The SEN-CR-600 and SEN-CR-1600 Cationic Resin Columns are designed and engineered with optimal geometry and materials to provide the ideal solution for performing cation exchange processes. This operation is essential for obtaining accurate and reliable cationic (acid) conductivity measurements in sampling and analysis systems used in steam and water cycle applications.

  • Constructed of clear polycarbonate tubes (no PVC)
  • Screw caps on both sides make filling and emptying easy
  • Response time 4 to 5 minutes (for a flow rate of 200 cc / min)
  • Saturation indicated by color change
  • Regenerated with 5% HCl solution

The supplied resin becomes depleted over time with use. Its exhaustion can be easily monitored using the built-in color indicator, which changes from purple to brown as the resin is consumed. This color-change moves gradually down the length of the column until it reaches the marked level, indicating that the resin needs to be replaced or regenerated by washing with a 5% hydrochloric acid solution.

The primary cations exchanged prior to measuring cationic conductivity in sampling and analysis systems are those introduced through chemical dosing. These include NH4+ from amine treatments and N2H5+ from oxygen scavengers, along with other cations such as Na+, Fe²+, and Fe³+. During the exchange process, these cations are captured by the resin, while hydrogen cations (H+) are released instead.
